This has been an exhausting weekend....I could say that about every weekend. Yesterday a horrible trend was replayed for the second time. So that you can tell the trend I will retell what happened 2 weekends ago. 2 Saturdays ago we made plans to take Grandma to a family baby shower for my husband's cousin. The day was supposed to start at 4:45am with me volunteering at the co-op I participate in followed by a stop at Target to pick up a shower gift and then library and post office. During this time the honey was going to take the munchkin to Lowe's for there bi-weekly build and grow clinic. While they are at the build I am going to get a shower and get ready for the shower before Grandma gets to the house. Grandma, the munchkin and I will then go to the shower and then come back home to rest for a little while and then go on to meet friends at an outdoor concert. The day really plays out with me massively oversleeping and not only missing my volunteer time but almost being to late to pick up my produce. I am then at Target trying to decide on a gift when Phillip calls to say that he feels so badly that his vision is blurred but despite this he has driven the munchkin to Lowe's for the build. When I offer to go sub for him he does not want me to since he is already at the location...so off to the other errands I go. On the way home from the last errand my low tire light comes on which has happened before and it was nothing a little nitrogen could not fix however this time when I opened the door I could hear the hiss of a tire going flat so I got back in and pulled forward thinking if I took pressure off the hole the air would stop leaking...did not work. Turns out there was a 3 inch piece of metal in the tire so instead of getting a shower I called my new car roadside assistance which informed me that since I have no spare they will send the wrecker to the house and tow it to the closest dealer for repair. The honey and munchkin return shortly after this exchange and then grandma comes over. I hand over the keys to the tow truck driver and call the dealership as instructed to tell them my car is on the way. The shower is next and by this time I am running behind so I throw on clothes and call the dealership back to see what the timeframe on my tire is. I am told that the car is not there yet but once it arrives it should only take 1 hour. The dealership is a half hour from our house so we decide that we will take my honey's car and drop him at the dealership to pick up the car and then the rest of us will head on to the shower. We implement this plan and on to the shower we go....I manage to take the wrong exit heading to the shower and make us about 20 minutes late. Once we get to the shower the munchkin who has been asleep all this time wakes up and has a complete melt down which he has never done in public before and then proceeds to pee more than humanly possible and has to have a complete wardrobe change. I am tired of everything by this point and thinking I would get some decent news message my honey to see if he is home, it has been more than 2 hours since we dropped him at this point. The news gets worse...it turns out I do not have the tire warranty as I thought and to replace the tire is $140 so my thought was tow me home and I will go to the discount tire 2 blocks from my house to get an inexpensive tire with an actual warranty. The dealerships response ( not the one I bought it from obviously) is that they will charge me to tow it back home oh and by the way they do not have the tire in stock. My thought was that when I called them to tell them my car was on the way they could have told me all this information. My honey ended up getting home 3 &1/2 hours later charged for a new tire but getting one off a car on the dealerships lot and feeling even worse than that morning. By the time the shower was over which really was at the last minute since the baby was born the next day we decided to skip the concert and Grandma went home. Fast forward 2 weeks and once again I need to get up at 4:45am to volunteer at the co-op and Grandma is coming up to ride with us to a family event. The munchkin is going to build some fabulous balsa wood creation again so I make the seemingly wise plan that since we need to be at the reunion 45 minutes away before 12 and the build is at 10 that Grandma would meet us here at the house and all of us head to the build and then straight on to the reunion. I actually did make it to the co-op on time to volunteer but stayed late because of huge turnout but still home in plenty of time to get ready. Honey was showering when I got home and so I washed up some veggies from that mornings pick-up and sliced them to take along with a dill dip I mixed up. Brownies were ready from the night before. After honey got out of the shower I jumped in and thought yeah we are moving along smoothly.....just a thought. Grandma called to say she was running late but since she was going to get to the house early things were still going to be ok. I got the dishwasher loaded and then she called back to say she had a blow out 2 exits up from the house. She had the tire warranty but is flustered and not sure what to do so honey heads out to get to her. He calls when he gets there to tell me the tow truck is on its way but to take the munchkin to his build so on to the build we go. We are late getting there but we get the fire truck done and then back to the house literally at the same time as Grandma and honey. We get the car loaded up and head out to the reunion a half hour later than planned. Once at the reunion Grandma gets the call that since it is the weekend they can not process her tire warranty but they can sell her a tire which she can then take back to the dealership on Monday and exchange for her warranty tire and get her money refunded. She goes ahead and pays for the tire and then is informed that they close in 4 hours and can not leave her car outside because her smart key will not let them lock the doors with the key inside so we end up leaving the reunion to drive the hour to get her car so she can head home.
Soooo the conclusion we have come to is on co-op build weekends we are not making any plans with Grandma for family functions.
